AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) emerged in 1987 from a small group of friends in Los Angeles caring for the dying. Soon, new HIV treatment became available and AHF's mission was clear - to keep people alive. AHF opened its first healthcare center in 1990 and then expanded to become a national medical provider. Today, AHF is the largest AIDS organization in the United States. Our network of healthcare centers, pharmacies, and managed care programs now serve more than 20,000 clients.
In early 2002, AHF began to offer treatment outside the United States. We opened two healthcare centers in Africa, established an office in Amsterdam, and played a key role in the International AIDS Conference in Barcelona. Today, AIDS Healthcare Foundation programs and services exist across the globe in Uganda, Zambia, South Africa, India, Ukraine, China, Mexico, and Honduras. Our strength comes from being a disciplined team, made up of many diverse elements and united behind a common mission, "Providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy, regardless of ability to pay." So, whether we are providing care in California or Uganda, we are up to the task.
We pride ourselves on running an effective and efficient operation. In fact, over 95% of AIDS Healthcare Foundation's revenues are used to fund direct medical care for our clients. Nothing is a greater threat to global health than AIDS. We have the power to change the course of this epidemic...and this is what all of us at AIDS Healthcare Foundation intend to do.
