The short explanation of this alert was:
In the name of “homeland security,” several Congressional members are pushing the CLEAR Act and Homeland Security Enhancement Act – a divisive agenda to deputize local police officers as immigration agents.  Despite the deceptive rhetoric, both bills would jeopardize public safety, improperly shift the burden of federal immigration law enforcement to local police, and opens the door to civil rights abuses and wrongful arrests.
