Duke Energy is up to no good. As the world continues to acknowledge that global warming is a serious problem, Duke Energy wants to build a new massive coal-fired power unit- the biggest contributing factor to global warming. What's worse is that the technology that will be used to build the new power unit will not prevent these pollutants from threatening our national parks- even though the technology is available to do so. Duke’s proposed new coal-fired unit at the Cliffside plant would emit toxic mercury, smog-forming compounds, deadly soot and global warming pollution that will degrade air quality for tens of thousands of state residents and could seriously diminish visibility and air quality at Great Smoky Mountains. The North Carolina Department of Air Quality needs to put a stop to their proposal before its too late. Urge the Dept. of Air Quality to deny Duke's permit to build a new dirty coal-fired burner at Cliffside today!
