The short explanation of this alert was:
In 1980 the lives of thousands were changed when Mount St. Helens erupted, sending ash as far away as Spokane, Washington. And yet even in the wake of this destruction, Mt. St. Helens remains a beautiful place. And if Washington's Congressional delegation has anything to say about it, Mt. St. Helens will continue to receive the top-notch treatment it deserves. The National Park Service has the experience, resources, and ability to more effectively and efficiently administer the this national treasure, and now the park has the support of Sen. Cantwell, who has stepped up to the plate to help elevate Mt. St. Helens to a national park. Now we need Congressman Baird to jump on board to help move the process forward. Please write a letter asking the Congressman to work to designate Mt. St. Helens a national park.
