On April 16, Hudson Riverkeeper Alex Matthiessen will testify before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on the importance of the Clean Water Act in New York State. He will urge Congress to pass the Clean Water Restoration Act in order to ensure that all of our nation's vital water resources receive full protection under federal law.
There are just a few remaining New York Congressional delegates who have yet to co-sponsor the Clean Water Restoration Act. We've asked our members in the past to contact them -- now, we're asking for your help again!
Urge these Congressional delegates to sign on to this important legislation and show support for Riverkeeper's ongoing efforts to protect New York's water!
Despite your efforts, they have yet to sign on!
In recognition of the 35th Anniversary of the Clean Water Act, Riverkeeper is joining this month with Waterkeeper Alliance and other environmental groups across the country, asking the public to contact our leaders in Washington again, and urge them to pass this legislation.
The Clean Water Restoration Act (H.R. 2421/S. 1870) is bipartisan legislation that would ensure that all of the nation's streams, headwater tributaries, wetlands and other waters remain protected from pollution by the federal Clean Water Act. Passage of this bill - perhaps the most important clean water legislation in 35 years - will help Riverkeeper protect all of New York's streams, wetlands and other waterways.
The majority of our region's Congressional delegates have co-sponsored this important legislation. But a few have yet to act. Email them today and encourage them to be leaders in ensuring clean water for Americans today and tomorrow.
