Ohio Environmental Council.
The short explanation of this alert was:
Don't allow arsenic, lead, and other toxins to poison our groundwater!
Send an email to Governor Strickland today urging him to issue a statewide moratorium on dumping any potentially contaminated toxic waste into our landfills!
Waste from construction and demolition sites are routinely dumped into Ohio's landfills. The construction and demolition debris (CDD) industry has long contended that this waste poses no risk to groundwater or the environment.
But that's not true!
Last year, Ohio EPA released study results on Ohio's CDD landfills, concluding that liquid waste from CDD landfills DO pose serious threats to groundwater, the environment, and public health.
Swift action must be taken to protect Ohio's groundwater. Tell Governor Strickland that you expect safe groundwater for your community.
Use the form at right to take action now!
