The short explanation of this alert was:

Please help with this vital campaign to permanently close the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant, owned by the Entergy Corporation.  In light of the immediate threat to public health and safety that Indian Point poses, we would like to ask you to take just two minutes today to help us close Indian Point.

Please Call and Write New York Governor George Pataki, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, and U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton and ask them to use the power of their office to:

(1) Call for the immediate and permanent closure and orderly decommissioning of the Indian Point nuclear power plant;

(2) Demand that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission withdraw Entergy's license to operate the Indian Point plant;

(3) Demand that the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security decertify the radiological emergency plan for Indian Point because the plan fails to adequately protect public health and safety;

(4) Demand Indian Point's owners, Entergy, secure the vulnerable "spent" fuel storage pools.
