Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit NM Wild Action Center. The short explanation of this alert was: The campaign to protect Doña Ana County's wildlands started in 2005 when the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance began spearheading local efforts. These local efforts have brought diverse partners to the table in support of a rich wildland diversity that includes petroglyph filled canyons, soaring mountain peaks, and sprawling Chihuahuan Desert grasslands. With eight Wilderness Study Areas, Doña Ana County is filled with many wild treasures. Over 300,000 acres are proposed for wilderness designation, with nearly another 100,000 planned to be part of a National Conservation Area. New Mexico's second largest city, Las Cruces is surrounded by 2 of the 3 main wilderness complexes, offering unparalleled opportunities for wilderness experiences near a population center. Over 25 local and regional organizations support the Citizen's Wilderness and NCA Proposal, which also enjoys the support of hundreds of local businesses both large and small. We are now in a position to see all of our hard work pay off with the introduction of legislation to permanently protect these crown jewels of southern New Mexico. But We Need Your Help.
