Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit NM Wild Action Center. The short explanation of this alert was: The legislative calendar in the Senate is very tight now, and time is running short for passage of the Sabinoso Wilderness Act of 2008. The bill passed the House on June 9, after Congressman Tom Udall (D-NM), the Bureau of Land Management and the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance worked for years with key local partners to craft the legislation. Please take two minutes to encourage Senators Jeff Bingaman and Pete Domenici to act promptly for passage of this wilderness into law before year's end! At 20,000 acres, Sabinoso is one of the finest intact Great-Plains ecosystems left in New Mexico. Located just 40 miles east of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Sabinoso is home to American kestrel, savannah sparrow, red-tailed hawk, broad tailed hummingbird, coyote, mountain lions, mule deer and gray foxes. It is a natural treasure that should be protected. The Sabinoso Wilderness Act of 2008 enjoys broad support among federal agencies, local communities, ranchers, hunters, and conservationists. With time in the Senate running out, now is the time to urge your Senators to work hard for speedy passage of this excellent conservation legislation.
