Support LGBT protection from Discrimination!! Call your State Representative!!
The Michigan House of Representatives Judiciary Committee is meeting this morning, Wednesday, August 26, 2009, to hear testimony about HB 4192, Amending Michigan's Civil Rights Laws to Include Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.
Currently, Michigan has no discrimination protection for lgbt people. Triangle Foundation will be at this hearing and will testify about the discrimination that has been reported, encouraging state representatives to pass the bill from committee in hopes of receiving a full vote from the House.
WE NEED YOUR HELP.
Please contact your state representative just letting them know you support HB 4192. Let them know that discrimination is wrong and it harms innocent people. Let them know that discrimination hinders economic recovery. Let them know that lgbt people want equal rights not special rights. Let them know we want to be treated equally in the work place.

People accept civil rights laws because they are, above all, a statement of what we believe as a people. A law against sexual orientation/gender identity discrimination says that we really believe the American promise that everyone should have a fair chance to go where their brains and guts and grit can take them. A law against sexual orientation/gender identity discrimination says that we really believe in that promise, and that we want it to be real.
Michigan is a state where we value fairness and deplore discrimination.
