We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Center for Inquiry.

The short explanation of this alert was:

House Concurrent Resolution 131 (H. Con. Res.131)  directs the Architect of the Capitol to engrave the Pledge of Allegiance and the national motto of "In God We Trust" in the Capitol Visitor Center. This is estimated to cost the taxpayers around $100,000. Let our congressional members know we don't want our tax dollars wasted on unnecessary jingoism. Your member is home for the July 4th holiday. Send this e-mail or give them a call. Tell them to say "No" to H. Con. Res. 131.
