Summer Session 2009, A Secular Summit: What is Secularism and Where is it Going? Brought to you by The Institute at the Center For Inquiry July 15 - August 2, 2009 Center For Inquiry/Transnational Amherst, NY (just outside of the University at Buffalo's North Campus) In module one, experts on the demographics of nonbelievers and the spread of secularism describe their research into this visibly large and potentially powerful segment of society. In module two, legal and political scholars give updates from the frontlines of the secular agenda to repair the "wall of separation" between church and state and to protect rights of nonbelievers. In module three, prominent skeptics and atheists explain how to rationally reject myth, superstition, scripture, and theology, and how to achieve a positive secular life. Instruction at The Institute at the Center for Inquiry is organized into Wednesday - Sunday modules, each an intensive exploration of some aspect of the theme. Modules are carefully interwoven to convey the richness of the theme as a totality, but they also serve as stand-alone courses. Participants may take one, two, or three modules depending on their sphere of interest. You can find a more detailed explanation of the modules on our website. www.centerforinquiry.net/education/schedule
