Tell SEIU International to start acting like a real union!
Help send SEIU president Andy Stern a clear message!: Working people deserve better!
Across the U.S., SEIU International is reducing representation, and signing deals with employers that gives management exclusive rights on pay rates, benefits, working conditions, and patient care standards. In California, SEIU members - state workers, hospital, nursing home, clinic, long-term care employees - are facing a growing assault with layoffs, furloughs, budget cuts, takeaway demands from employers. Subject: SEIU International: Start acting like a real union!
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
Working people deserve a union that will fight layoffs, wage and benefit cuts, and other employer attacks, rather than one like SEIU International who is reducing member representation by signing deals with employers and giving management exclusive rights on pay rates, benefits, working conditions, and patient care standards.
What good does it do to grow SEIU's membership by conducting backroom deals with management, when you are NOT respecting or effectively representing your current membership?
These practices have become commonplace under your leadership, ANDY STERN, which is disgraceful and must stop immediately. Especially now, working families deserve all the support we can get. I demand SEIU International stop giving real unions a bad name and start puting workers first!

SEIU: Serving Employers Instead of Us... Working people deserve better!
Across California, SEIU members—state workers, hospital, nursing home, clinic, long-term care employees — are facing a growing assault with layoffs, furloughs, budget cuts, takeaway demands from employers.
They expect their union to help. Sure enough, SEIU International is swarming the state with hundreds of staff and millions of dollars.
Just not to help SEIU members.
Where are the staff and dollars going? For an all out attack on SEIU members, represented by United Healthcare Workers–West and on the California Nurses Association. SEIU International has rented two large office buildings in Northern and Southern California to create shadow UHW headquarters, and have flown in and housed staff from SEIU locals across the U.S.
Perhaps SEIU President Andy Stern doesn't want to challenge his close ally Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger or his business partner hospital employers.
Or perhaps this is just another sign of the new SEIU. Across the U.S. SEIU is reducing representation, and signing deals with employers that gives management exclusive rights on pay rates, benefits, working conditions, and patient care standards.
