Dramatic Settlement Sets
National Model for H1N1 Hospital Safety Measures to Protect
Patients and Nurses
RNs: "Every Hospital Should Take Same Steps to
Contain Swine Flu"
 Alan
Fitzpatrick, RN at St. Mary's Medical Center, San Francisco,
CNA/NNOC Executive Director Rose Ann DeMoro, and St. Mary's RNs
meet with the media in the days before today's landmark
settlement announcement.
In a dramatic settlement seen as a novel pattern for the
nation, the nation's largest nurses union and professional
association, and one of the country's biggest hospital systems,
today announced a landmark agreement that sets a national
standard on containing the spread of pandemics such as H1N1
"swine flu".
CALL TODAY FOR REAL HEALTHCARE
REFORM...
Nurses and our allies have worked tirelessly to win real
reform that guarantees a single standard of quality care for
all, that enables us to exercise our clinical judgment, that
protects our patients and solves this crisis with real cost
control, comprehensive benefits, and complete choice of
provider. And that puts an end, once and for all, to
disgraceful horror stories of insurance companies denying needed
medical treatment just because they don't want to pay for
it.
But we're not getting Congress to do it, so we need to move
our fight to the states. The Kucinich amendment helps us carry
our healthcare reform advocacy to the state houses from Augusta
to Harrisburg, from Springfield to Sacramento.
Nurses and Single-Payer advocates storm Rep. George
Miller's office.
