We are having a rally to thank Rep. Castor, who faced intense criticism earlier this summer, for her vote on Saturday. This event will be run by the nationally known nonprofit group Remote Area Medical Foundation. Organizers expect to give free medical care to 2,500 people a day from across South Florida, but say the number could be higher or lower depending on how many Florida physicians, nurses, dentists and eye doctors sign up to volunteer their services. The RAM group will send tractor-trailers and an airplane filled with supplies, and 30 local agencies and nonprofit groups have agreed to send staffers, run information booths and donate supplies.
