Greetings,
Dear Governmental
Relations Chair (GRC):
Join CSBA on Facebook and
Twitter! More than
ever, school governing board members want to communicate with
their counterparts across the state. They also want to get
more timely education updates from key CSBA staff. Social
media is one of the many ways CSBA can help facilitate this
communication. The time is right for our association to
explore social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter to
engage our members -- and you can help us in the initial
effort.
CSBA is about to embark on a
social media pilot project and would like to invite you to
participate. In addition to our board of directors, you are part
of a select group of board members that we feel will add to the
success of our pilot project. Your involvement will require that
you are an active participant on Facebook and/or Twitter.
CSBA plans to use Facebook as a tool to engage pilot
participants on the issues surrounding the state budget crisis
and drive conversation around our “Schools: An investment
we can’t afford to cut” campaign. We will post
questions and discussion topics, while providing you the
opportunity to comment, present your opinion and share your
local experiences. CSBA will also use Twitter to send out
“tweets” or short messages from our key CSBA staff,
providing instant legislative, legal and policy updates, which
would then refer you to our Web page for additional information,
as necessary. The pilot project will take place until
August 10 with the intent to launch our social media campaign
association-wide in the fall.
Your previous experience
using Facebook and/or Twitter is preferable. However, if you
need help in setting up an account on Facebook or Twitter, we
can assist you. If you’re interested in participating
in our pilot project, please contact Marites Ares, legislative
analyst at mares@csba.org.
We look forward to hearing from
you.
