The short explanation of this alert was:
Millions of visitors each year flock to the nation’s capital to experience America’s history by walking along the National Mall. Unfortunately for many visitors, a trip to the National Mall can be frustrating due to poor signage, poorly coordinated construction projects, and a lack of food service, bathrooms, lighting, and transportation choices. The Mall needs an updated vision to meet the demands of its third century. Congress has declared the National Mall “a completed work of civic art,” yet much-needed improvements to the Mall’s monuments, memorials, and museums are overdue. The Park Service must devise a long-range plan for sustainable growth that respects the Mall’s natural resources, its commemorative landscapes, and its existing memorials, museums, and monuments. Take action today!
