DFA members on the ground in Virginia have been working hard to elect Leslie Byrne to Congress since the beginning. We’ve knocked on doors, recruited volunteers, and made phone calls providing people power and face to face contact. Now it is up to you to back local DFA members up with the resources to win.

Leslie’s primary opponent’s “pay-to-play” tactics have him caught in a questionable position. His employer has potentially violated federal election commission rules on his behalf. He has been described as the candidate who will most aptly “fill the shoes” of retiring Republican congressman Tom Davis.

That’s not what America wants. We want a Democrat who will stand up and fight for what they believe in. We don’t need another Bush-Democrat.

Leslie’s district went to Bush by just one point in the 2004 election, making this seat ripe for a Democratic pick-up in 2008. But first Leslie must beat a defense contractor who works for one of the worst war-mongering profiteering firms in the business. He just decided to be against the war- now that it is politically convenient.

Leslie has strong roots in this community, having served the people as a former congresswoman, state representative and state senator. Time and again, Leslie has stuck to her progressive principles and stood up against the odds to provide leadership.

We can make sure Leslie adds to the progressive wing of the Democratic Party.
