Vote "Yes" on Nov. 3rd

Greetings,

Voters will decide on Tuesday whether to continue New Jersey's main preservation programs.

We strongly support voting "Yes" on Public Question #1, the Green Acres, Clean Water, Farmland Preservation Act.  We view this as a very wise investment in our state that will create a better place for our children and grandchildren.

If voters deny the renewal of these programs on November 3rd, state land preservation will grind to a halt. Property containing valuable habitat will be more likely to be lost.

A Yes decision on Public Question #1 would provide $400 million to our preservation programs, which will equate to only $10 annually per household. This investment is a taxpayer's best friend. Keeping water clean at the source costs a fraction of building advanced water filtration plants. Areas that preserve our clean water also preserve habitat for wildlife, from bog turtles to our hundreds of bird species. Creating parks offers similar protections to wildlife, and enhances area property values, revitalizes inner cities, and provides documented health benefits that help counter the rising cost of care.  Open space is also a tool to manage property taxes by mitigating the high cost of services provided to developed areas.

New Jersey Audubon Society and many of our members have worked hard to give citizens this referendum choice on November 3rd. But now it all comes down to Tuesday's vote. You can help by being sure to vote and by communicating with as many of your friends and family members as possible.  The ballot question will be at the far-right or the bottom of the ballot -- please pull that lever!

Thank you again for your keen interest in making New Jersey a better place for people and wildlife!
