Parking is limited to seven vehicles per day for the weekends of November 7, November 14 and November 21. Raccoon Ridge is one of New Jersey’s premier fall hawkwatching sites offering, in addition to consistently spectacular flights, a sensational view of the surrounding countryside. The lookout is located in northwestern NJ, in Worthington State Forest, adjacent to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area near Blairstown, Warren County. The hawkwatch has a rich history dating back to the 1930s, and boasts a storied list of renowned hawkcounters and regulars, from Lee Edwards to Floyd Wolfarth to Pete Dunne. Full-time fall counts at Raccoon Ridge have historically averaged 15,000 raptors, and the lookout has earned a reputation for providing great, close looks at both Bald and Golden Eagles, among the many other species regularly observed. We thank Jersey Central Power & Light, FirstEnergy and PSEG for this opportunity to offer access to this famous hawkwatch site. Sincerely, Eric Stiles, Vice President for Conservation & Stewardship NJ Audubon Society |
