On July 6, the New York Court of Appeals upheld a state law that bars same-sex couples from marriage and the hundreds of protections provided to married couples.
I ask you to now to respond by passing a law that allows gay and lesbian couples to marry.
The legislature has said all along that it has been waiting to correct the inequalities in our marriage law until the court has had its say. Now that the Court has spoken, I look to you to end discrimination against gay and lesbian couples and their children.
