Support Marriage Fairness This Year
Marriage is the only way to ensure the full set of responsibilities and protections are extended to all families. It is up to our Senators to ensure that all New Yorkers are treated fairly and justly.
The momentum for marriage across the country has been incredible! In the past two months, three new states have passed marriage fairness bills with both Republican and Democratic support. The success of the movement for marriage fairness across the country is inevitable. In New York, a vote for marriage fairness will position our state on the right side of history as the story of this fight for equality unfolds.

Subject: Support Marriage Fairness This Year
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
In the next few weeks you will have a choice-whether to use your vote in the Senate to protect and affirm all New York families, or to leave some families behind. As your constituent, I ask you to cast your vote in support of the Marriage Fairness bill.
Marriage is the only way to ensure the full set of responsibilities and protections are extended to all families. The New Jersey Civil Union Review Commission echoed findings from across the country in citing that the civil union law "creates a second-class status" for lesbian and gay couples.
It is the responsibility of the New York State Legislature to ensure all New Yorkers are treated fairly and justly. By voting for this bill, you will extend the dignity, security, joy and responsibilities that come with marriage.
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "The arc of history is long but it bends towards justice." The success of the movement for marriage fairness across the country is inevitable. In New York, a vote for marriage fairness will position our state on the right side of history as the story of this fight for equality unfolds.
I urge you to join the bi-partisan effort of Republicans and Democrats from Legislatures all over the country, and cast your vote for families.
Sincerely,
|
