FISA Amendments Act of 2008
Congress is set to vote on the FISA Amendments Act, an unprecedented piece of legislation that will give sweeping new surveillance powers to the President and will leave little court oversight to protect privacy rights.

The Hoyer/Bush FISA deal allows for mass and untargeted surveillance of communications coming into and out of the United States and ensures immunity for corporations that cooperated with the government to spy on Americans' phone calls and emails.
Congress still has not received a full accounting of the spying that took place on Americans. Congress must investigate what actually transpired before granting immunity to those who participated in the program.
After years of repeated attacks on civil rights and liberties, this bill would strip even more of our fundamental rights.
