Protect Rochester Student Privacy

Rochester Student Privacy Rights are in Danger!

There is a plan to overturn a standing policy in Rochester schools that keeps students’ personal contact information out of the hands of military recruiters.

We need your help to protect students from overly aggressive military recruitment. Information released to recruiters has resulted in constant and harassing phone calls, recruiters showing up at young people’s homes, and other unwarranted altercations.

Help protect Rochester families’ privacy!

Send a fax to Rochester Superintendent Jean-Claude Brizard. Tell him that all Rochester students deserve protection! Retain the current “opt-in” recruiter policy.

Subject: Protect Student Privacy: Retain current military recruitment policy

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

As a Rochester community member or parent, I urge you to protect students' privacy rights and maintain the current military recruitment policy in Rochester's schools. Changing the policy would allow military recruiters access to student's private information, in many cases, without their knowledge.

We ask for your strong leadership in protecting Rochester students' right to privacy. Students who are interested in military service have ample opportunities to illicit information. We believe that a career in the military is a life-changing decision that should be made with full, factual information without any undue pressure from overly aggressive recruitment tactics or abuses.

Please retain the current policy.

Sincerely,
