With new leadership in the New York State Senate, our chance to pass proactive, pro-choice legislation is here! PRCH is once again working to pass the Reproductive Health Act, a bill to update and strengthen New York's reproductive rights laws. Dear [ Decision Maker ] , As medical professionals in New York State, we strongly support access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare for the women of our state. New York can be a leader in a nation that continues to chip away at women's healthcare rights. Seven states have already taken proactive steps to protect women's health and rights by enacting laws that codify reproductive rights--let's add New York to that list. The New York Legislature can stand up for women by advancing the Reproductive Health Act and stating affirmatively that women make the decisions about their reproductive lives.

The Reproductive Health Act would modernize and update current New York State law by protecting a woman's right to control her own reproductive healthcare decisions, including decisions about contraception, pregnancy, and abortion. The bill would ensure that a woman will be able to have an abortion if her health is endangered at any point in her pregnancy, and treats the regulation of abortion as an issue of public health and medical practice. The Act would also guarantee everyone the right to use or refuse contraception.
