Health Reform Must Include Reproductive Health

Tell your senators that you expect them to pass a health reform bill requiring insurers to cover reproductive health services.

Congress must make reproductive health care such as contraception part of everyone's insurance. And they must prevent women from losing vital health benefits, like private insurance coverage for abortion.

Subject: Health reform should require insurers to cover reproductive health services

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I agree with President Obama -- health care reform is a matter of life or death, especially for women.

I expect you to pass a health reform bill requiring insurers to cover reproductive health services.

Please send me your assurance that you will vote to make reproductive health care part of everyone's insurance, and that you will prevent women from losing vital health benefits, like private insurance coverage for abortion.

Sincerely,

Background Information

Four committees in the House and Senate have voted on and defeated 35 amendments to health care reform that would have restricted access to reproductive health services.

This success is thanks to you. Many PRCH members and supporters called their members of Congress to urge them to vote against the amendments; in August, more than 400 PRCH supporters signed a petition calling for reproductive health care to be part of reform.

PRCH physicians and supporters have visited dozens of congressional offices in Washington, DC, and at home over the past few months to bring this message to Congress. Even more PRCH physicians will be on Capitol Hill next week to add their voices to the chorus demanding coverage of reproductive health care.

But our work is not over! We must keep up the pressure to enact health reform that protects and expands reproductive health care. Please email your senators today!
