PRCH supporters have spent months advocating for
comprehensive reproductive health care in health reform. Now you
can get the latest information on the status of health reform by
participating in National
Grand Rounds: Health Care Reform
2009 on Monday, October 5, at 12:00
p.m. EST in Washington, DC.
Join colleagues from around the United States, either in
person or via the web, to get up-to-the-minute, factual
information on the rapidly evolving health care reform
legislation making its way through both the Senate and House of
Representatives. This National Grand Rounds will
begin with a 15-minute overview of the bills as they stand on
October 5th, followed by 45 minutes of Q & A (in person or
via e-mail) with our expert panel. This is a unique
opportunity to interact directly with policy makers who are
involved in writing the health care reform
legislation.
Visit http://www.npalliance.net/GrandRounds/ to
register to join health care policy experts on Capitol Hill for
this important discussion. Please use this opportunity to ask
what work is being done to ensure women's reproductive health
care is included in the final bill.
Sample questions: President Obama has
promised that health care reform will allow you to keep the
coverage you have, if you like it. Recent studies suggest
that most
Americans with employer-based insurance have coverage for
abortion services. Can you guarantee that women who
currently have coverage for abortion will not lose that coverage
and be worse off after health reform?
Insurance companies vary widely in their coverage of
contraception. Some don't cover any of it while others don't pay
for more expensive, longer-term forms of birth control. Can we
expect any help from health reform in making all forms of
contraception affordable and available to everyone?
