Women Deserve Comprehensive Health Care

Now that the health care bills are headed to the House and Senate floors, we all must tell our members of Congress to protect reproductive health. We can’t risk losing what we have gained.

Thanks to you and your efforts so far:

  • The Senate bill and the House bill prohibit gender rating (charging women more than men for private insurance).
  • Both bills compel insurers to cover maternity care.
  • One Senate bill has an amendment requiring insurers to cover contraception and other basic preventive health care for women.
  • Dozens of dangerous amendments were defeated, including a ban on all insurance coverage for abortion and an extension of ineffective and inaccurate abstinence-only programs.

Your senators and representatives are now preparing to vote on health reform. They need to hear that women deserve comprehensive reproductive health care, no matter what stage of life or pregnancy. Tell them that health reform must make reproductive health care accessible and affordable for all.

Thank you for your continued support.

Dear [decision maker name automatically inserted here],

Health reform must help women, not hurt them. Women depend on reproductive health care like contraception and abortion. Please support legislation that puts these services in everyone's reach.

Sincerely,
