Greetings,
The paint on the many homes we have built for tsunami
survivors in Thailand is hardly dry, and already we are
inescapably called to "hands on" action once again- this time on
America's own shores.
By now you are probably accustomed to receiving periodic
updates from me about the amazing speed and extent of our
organization's tsunami recovery work in Thailand. Indeed,
that work continues apace, and you can read about it here.
But this message is not a newsletter- it's a call to
action. Many have remarked that the US Gulf Coast
looks just like the tsunami-stricken coast of Thailand.
That's why our organization, with all the lessons learned
from our low-overhead, high-impact relief work there fresh in
our minds, couldn't help but jump right in. We're inviting you
to jump in too.
We have initiated a new US-based nonprofit organization
(called "HandsOnWorldwide"), we have secured a headquarters in
Biloxi/Gulfport, and we have established a plan for operations-
to focus first on rebuilding the homes of policemen, fireman,
and public safety officers in the stricken Biloxi/Gulfport
region, so that they can more effectively perform their vital
roles in the rehabilitation of the region. HandsOnThailand
alums, together with many new volunteers, are already
there on the ground working side-by-side with hurricane
survivors to rebuild this devastated community. Our
homepage is here.
We need your help once again. We are asking you, as a donor
and friend of HandsOnThailand, to bring your generosity and
compassion to bear once again for the people of hard-hit
coastal Mississippi. As you know from our work in Thailand,
we don't fool around. When you give money to HandsOn,
it goes right to work, right where it counts, and we report
back to you with pictures and updates about our progress- so you
can see for yourself. Please help us to help rebuild the US Gulf
Coast by clicking here. If you are able-bodied, have
applicable skills, and would like to personally volunteer
your services in Mississippi (or if you'd like to contribute
tools or materials), please email info@handsonusa.org.
On behalf of HandsOn, and on behalf of the citizens of
Biloxi/Gulfport, we sincerely thank you for your kindness and
compassion, past, present, and future.
Yours in service,
The HandsOn Team

HandsOnWorldwide, as always, you can unsubscribe below.
