Ask for Governor Schwarzenegger's Help to Stop Sunrise Powerlink!
Urge Governor Schwarzenegger to help stop Sunrise Powerlink, San Diego Gas & Electric's (SDG&E) proposed 150-mile transmission line that would slice through the Cleveland National Forest and local communities. Californians deserve clean, renewable energy solutions, not further dependence on imported, global warming fossil fuels.

Subject: Governor Schwarzenegger, Please Help Stop Sunrise Powerlink
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
I am asking your help in protecting the Cleveland National Forest and local communities from SDG&E's proposed Sunrise Powerlink, a 150-mile fossil-fueled transmission line.
This outdated project will not only unravel regional efforts to reduce global warming greenhouse gases, it will devastate protected open spaces like the Cleveland National Forest. In addition, it makes Southern Californian's more dependent on imported fossil fuels at a time when we are trying to become energy independent and use more renewable energy resources. Finally, this project would exacerbate air pollution, as it will support the development of more natural gas-fired power plants over the border.
SDG&E has admitted they do not neeed this line to meet their short or long-term renewable energy goals. And, independent experts have confirmed not only is it unnecessary for reliability, it will be an economic burden on ratepayers. In fact, there are better 21st Century energy infrastructure alternatives. We don't need this harmful, expensive project.
As Governor, you have recognized California's great open spaces make this a wonderful place to live. You have demonstrated environmental leadership, including being the first Governor in the nation to sign comprehensive global warming legislation. The Sunrise Powerlink would mean another "first" for you as Governor, however this one would undo many of the hard-earned environmental victories won by those before you.
Please keep California a great place to live and help us defeat the Sunrise Powerlink project. Because California deserves clean renewable energy solutions --not the outdated, greenhouse gas-causing emissions the Sunrise Powerlink would bring.
Sincerely,
