Greetings,
There is an exciting, urgent opportunity on July
9th for you to show your opposition to the Sunrise
Powerlink, a 150-mile, $1.3 billion boondoggle that would allow
the construction of intrusive electric transmission towers as
tall as 155 feet through Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the
Cleveland National Forest and the backyards of local
residents.
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the
organization that will decide whether or not to build the
Sunrise Powerlink, is holding a hearing in San Diego on July
9th.
In order to show the CPUC that the public knows the Sunrise
Powerlink is a corporate giveaway that ruins our cherished,
protected public lands while fattening the pockets of Sempra
investors, we are asking you to attend this hearing at
10:00 a.m. and bring signs to tell the CPUC there are smarter
energy solutions for San Diego.
This is a big step forward in our fight to stop this project,
and will send a loud message to the CPUC Commissioners.
We need to make our voices heard and tell those
in charge that they have a long fight on their hands if they
expect the public to sacrifice pristine park land.
The hearing will be held on July 9th at 10:00 at the Clerk of
the Board of Supervisors - Board Chambers Room 310, 1600 Pacific
Highway, San Diego, CA.
If you can make it, please RSVP no later than July 6th by
emailing me at mmitrosky@sierraclubsandiego.org
or calling me at 619-299-1797.
Hope to see you there!
Best,
Micah Mitrosky
Organizer, Smart Energy Solutions Campaign
P.S. Remember to mark your calendar for our July 24th
