An AMAZING UNPRECEDENTED OPPORTUNITY in our battle to protect local communities, Anza-Borrego and the Cleveland National Forest from the devastating Sunrise Powerlink is only a few days away. Community turnout was so strong at the Public Hearings in February, that another Sunrise Powerlink Public Hearing has been scheduled, and this time multiple California Public Utilities Commissioners plan to attend! This is the first, and most likely the only, time these key decision makers will be in San Diego to hear from the local community! Remember, the Commissioners are the people who will directly decide the fate of this ill-conceived project. A Hearing attended by multiple CPUC Commissioners is a rare event and is your single best opportunity to speak out against this harmful proposal and secure a smarter energy future for our region. I cannot emphasize enough that we need a strong showing - even if you attended a Hearing in February, please do your part by attending this May hearing and speaking out! Speaking out at the Hearing is a simple, effective way to send a message to public officials and key decision makers that the damaging, polluting Sunrise Powerlink is the wrong solution for San Diego. We have cleaner, renewable alternatives that reduce global warming greenhouse gases and preserve the beauty of our backcountry. Click HERE for a map. DIRECTIONS: Driving east on 78, turn left on S3 (Yaqui Pass Road). Travel for 7 miles, cross over Borrego Springs Road and name changes to Rango Way. Bear right onto Borrego Valley Road. Turn left at Tilting T Drive. Remember to bring homemade signs and banners, a copy of your public comments if you are speaking and friends, family & neighbors!
