San Diego Smart Energy Solutions Campaign

Greetings,

The San Diego Smart Energy 2020 Proposal Offers a Clean, Reliable Alternative to Sempra's Sunrise Powerlink Proposal, a $9 Billion Extension Cord to Global Warming Fossil Fuels

The Sierra Club's San Diego Smart Energy Solutions Campaign to protect Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the Cleveland National Forest and local communities from the unnecessary, devastating Sunrise Powerlink has made national news!

Today's Wall Street Journal featured an investigative article on renewable energy and transmission lines around the country.  The journalist discusses Sempra's Sunrise Powerlink proposal, and fairly points out that unlike other planned transmission projects that would tap into renewables, there are concerns Sempra is using the popularity of renewable energy as a convenient PR cover to hide Sunrise Powerlink's connection with fossil fuels.  Even Wall Street is taking a closer look at SDG&E and Sempra's bogus renewable energy claims about this global warming, unnecessary proposal!  Click HERE to read the full story.

From the recent delay of the final decision at the California Public Utilities Commission to this breaking article in the Wall Street Journal, SDG&E/Sempra's ill-fated Sunrise Powerlink proposal is being further scrutinized with each passing day. And more questions are being raised than answered.

We know there are smarter energy solutions than SDG&E/Sempra's expensive, fossil-fueled Sunrise Powerlink proposal designed to import energy from Sempra's new liquefied natural (LNG) gas terminal in Mexico.  This is the wrong direction for San Diego.  We need 21st Century energy infrastructure that is clean, reliable and will create "green collar" jobs in our local economy, such as Bill Powers' San Diego Smart Energy 2020 proposal.

Be sure to check out this comprehensive article today and remember to pass it on to a friend, relative, neighbor or co-worker!

Best,

Micah
