Take Action

Meet me at the train station - in Ohio!

Restoring passenger train service between Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati - one good idea that is way overdue.

Finally, things are starting to move - right here in Ohio.  Help us keep the momentum rolling!

Ohio Governor Ted Strickland has called for restoring passenger train service along the 3-C Corridor (Cleveland-Columbus-Dayton-Cincinnati).  This is good news for energy conservation, economic development, and transportation mobility and travel choice.

But the trains won't just return on their own.  We need to help give them a push.

Act now to let Governor Strickland and your Representative and Senators in Washington D.C. know that you support restoration of train service along Ohio's 3-C Corridor.  Do it today!

Subject: Restore passenger train service in Ohio

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Thank you for supporting the restoration of passenger rail service along Ohio's 3-C Corridor.

Passenger trains do more than move people from place to place. They also deliver a host of environmental and economic benefits.

- According to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, passenger trains use 17% and 21% less energy per passenger-mile than airlines and cars, respectively. (One passenger-mile is one passenger traveling one mile.)

- In 2007, Ohio workers and businesses garnered more than $13 million in wages, goods, and services, managing Amtrak's limited existing train service in Ohio.

In a July 18, 2008 letter to Amtrak president Alexander Kummant, 16 of Ohio's 20 Members of Congress wrote:

"Restoring passenger rail service to one of the most densely-populated urban corridors in Ohio, the Cleveland-Columbus-Cincinnati corridor, is an idea beyond overdue at the station."

I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you for your thoughtful leadership. You have my full support on this issue!

Sincerely,
