Safe Schools Matt's Law Bill

Dear [ Decision Maker ] , Every child in Michigan deserves to feel safe when they are in our schools. That's why I'm writing today to urge you to support Matt's Safe Schools Law, House Bills 4091/4162. Matt's Law would require every school district in Michigan to enact and enforce a comprehensive anti-bullying policy modeled in part after a policy already passed by the Michigan State Board of Education. It would give every parent in Michigan a standard for holding their children?s schools accountable, while still giving local school districts control over how to implement their individual policies. Most importantly, it would make our schools a safer place for every single Michigan student. Matt's Safe Schools Law is supported by the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan, the Michigan State Police, and professional associations of school professionals like the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals and the Michigan Association of School Boards. If you have already taken the step of sponsoring this important legislation, thank you. I urge you to continue your support and to do what you can to make sure it passes the entire Senate.
