Make the Bullies Stop!
Every day children suffer in silence because the problem of school bullying has not been seriously addressed by the State of Michigan. But now we have a chance to make significant changes in Michigan by passing Matt's Safe Schools Law. Matt's Law will force every school district in Michigan to have an inclusive policy on bullying, with a uniform definition of bullying that includes all students. Matt's Law has passed the Michigan House of Representatives but still needs to pass the Michigan Senate. Governor Granholm has pledged to sign this legislation.
Dear [ Decision Maker ] , Please support Matt's Law (HB 4162/4091). Bullying is a real problem in schools and Michigan needs to take action to deter bullying. Matt's Law still allows for local control and does not target the bully. It focuses on prevention and protects all students. Please act soon to pass Matt's Law.

If this legislation does not pass the Michigan Senate by the end of this year it will die. Every day that goes by, without a strong anti-bullying law, more and more Michigan students are suffering in silence and unable to focus on their education.
