Anti-Choice activists are lobbying the state legislature tomorrow to further restrict a woman's right to choose.

You can tell it’s an election year in Michigan. Our state legislators, including House Speaker Andy Dillon, are cowering to anti-choice forces that seek to limit a woman's access to reproductive healthcare in Michigan.  State legislators are pushing through an unnecessary and wasteful bill, which would prohibit abortion methods that were already banned by the ultra-conservative U.S. Supreme Court.

Not only is this bill unnecessary because it is already banned, it is political pandering at its worse -- Speaker Dillon can stop this wasteful legislation, but he needs to hear from people like you.

Tell your representative and Speaker of the House Andy Dillon to stop wasting our tax dollars on an issue designed only to pander to anti-choice forces and attack women in an election year.

Michigan Senate Bill 776 prohibits a rarely used, yet medically necessary abortion method and does not provide an exception to protect a woman’s health. Furthermore, no matter what Michigan law says, this medical method is already outlawed here and across the country. 

Tell your representative and Speaker Dillon that rather than wasting our time on divisive unnecessary legislation, we should work together to promote policies that support a woman’s ability to make informed and responsible health care decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies and strengthen families.

Let’s not let the contentious politics of abortion be used to drive wedges between us. Tell your representative and Speaker Dillon to work for progress in Michigan instead of continuing the wasteful and divisive antics that now define the Michigan legislature.

I am writing to express my disapproval of SB 776. This bill is nothing more than political pandering to anti-choice forces in an election year.

SB 776 is an unnecessary, wasteful and politically-motivated bill that seeks to ban an abortion method that is already banned at the federal level.

In addition, this bill prohibits a rarely used, yet medically necessary abortion method and does not provide an exception to protect a woman's health. Furthermore, no matter what Michigan law says, this medical method is already outlawed here and across the country.

Please stop wasting taxpayer time and resources with political votes that hurt women.

Instead focus on the pressing issues facing the state. If you are truly committed to improving the lives of Michigan women, please work with women's health advocates and policy makers to promote a woman's ability to make informed and responsible health care decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies and strengthen families.

Please do not waste our tax dollars and time on an issue designed only to create divisiveness and gain personal political favor from anti-choice forces. Please do not hold purely political votes on a procedure already banned under federal law. Instead, turn your attention to real problems facing the state.
