Make the Bullies Stop!
Every day children suffer in silence because the problem of school bullying has not been seriously addressed by the State of Michigan. Thirty-six other states have comprehensive anti-bullying laws but Michigan does not. We have a chance to change that and keep our kids safe by passing Matt's Safe Schools Law. Matt's Law will mandate every school district in Michigan have an anti-bullying policy that protects all students. Matt's Law has passed the State House, Governor Granholm has pledged to sign this bill into law, BUT IT STILL NEEDS TO PASS THE SENATE.
Dear [ Decision Maker ] , Please support Matt's Law (HB 4162/4091). Bullying is a real problem in schools. The Michigan Senate needs to take action to deter bullying. Matt's Law still allows for local control and does not target the bully. It focuses on prevention and protects all students. Please act soon to pass Matt's Law.

Today was the first day of school and 1.6 million Michigan children returned without comprehensive anti-bullying protections in place. Children can learn only when they feel safe. Every day that goes by without a strong anti-bullying law, more and more Michigan students suffer in silence unable to focus on their education.
